Dr. Travis Waters has over 24 years of experience in public education as a classroom teacher, principal, and central office administrator. He has previously worked in the Harrisburg School District as a 7th grade American history teacher and the Steelton-Highspire School District where he taught secondary world cultures, geography, and world history. After his experience in the classroom, he was appointed to the position of assistant principal at the Steelton-Highspire Jr./Sr. High School. His administrative experiences also include eight years as the assistant principal and principal of the Susquehanna Township Middle School. He returned to the SteeltonHighspire Jr./Sr. High School as the principal in 2012 and was eventually appointed to the position of assistant to the superintendent. Additionally, he served as superintendent of the Steelton-Highspire School District.

He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership/Special Education at Shippensburg University. His other experiences include employment as a Youth Advocate for court adjudicated juvenile offenders and juvenile probation officer. He currently serves on the Dauphin County Mental Health Intellectual Disability Advisory Board, the Penn State Parents and Children Together Community Action Board and is the President of the Greater Harrisburg Area Cheyney University Alumni Association. Educationally, Dr. Waters earned a Bachelor of Art in Political Science from Cheyney University, a Master of Education in Teaching and Curriculum from the Pennsylvania State University, and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility and doctorate in Educational Leadership from Shippensburg University. He is also proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity incorporated.
